CEO and Founder of The Yansa Group
Sergio Oceransky is the CEO and Founder of The Yansa Group, a not-for-profit wind developer that partners with indigenous, peasant and fisherfolk communities of emerging and developing countries to harness and sell their renewable energy resources, creating a stream of income that supports robust and diversified local development.
Sergio studied International Development Economics at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH-Aachen, Germany) and Human Geography and Development Studies at the Open University in the United Kingdom.
For over ten years, Sergio planned and implemented international cooperation projects. In 2005, he decided to focus his work to the intersection between the renewable energy and community development. He moved to Mexico in order to partner with indigenous communities in the construction of a participatory and socially inclusive model of wind power development. He later participated in the design of public policy in Chile to promote community renewable energy generation, and is currently working on three utility-scale indigenous wind farms in partnership with Mapuche indigenous communities in Chile.
